Witness: Cory Adam put cueball into a sock

By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA - Bradley Stanistreet and Kevin Stolarcyk are on trial for manslaughter in the beating death this summer of Carl Hill of Rome.

Even though there are 2 defendants and therefore 2 defense attorneys asking questions, things are moving along pretty quickly. Testimony began at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning and 4 witnesses had already taken the stand by Noon.

The first three were law enforcement and medical professionals. The jury heard from an Oneida County Sheriff's Deputy who responded to the Westmoreland house party where a fight broke out back on August 11 into the early morning hours of the August 12, and two EMTs.

But without a doubt, the most important testimony so far came just around 11 a.m. from a young man - a childhood friend of defendant Bradley Stanistreet.

That young man testified that, on August 11, right before he and Stanistreet went to the party in question, Stanistreet came out of his house with a sock and that Cory Adam - who has already accepted a guilty plea in this case - put a billiard ball - a black 8 ball - in the sock.

"He had it and he put it up and Cory Adam put the cue ball in the sock," the witness said. "One of them said 'that could probably kill somebody'"

Testimony will continue through Tuesday afternoon. Both defendants are expected to take the stand.
