UTICA - A Utica man facing charges of sexually abusing a 6-year old girl he was babysitting was in court Friday where he rejected a plea offer.

Michael Chicherchia faces several charges, including predatory sexual assault of a child and three counts of sexual abuse.

A plea offer was extended to Chicherchia back in February. On Friday, he rejected that offer instead choosing to go to trial.

"Do you really want to do that?" asked Judge Michael Dwyer

"I'm on the verge of suicide, so it doesn't really matter," Chicheria told the judge.

He could face up to 25 years to life in prison.

Chicherchia will return to Oneida County Court on March 26.
