LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - In what Little Falls Police called a rare move, they discussed Thursday an ongoing investigation into a rash of recent fires that have struck the city during October.

On October 14, an abandoned warehouse at 570 East Mill Street was set on fire by a group known as "The Jokers," police said.

Through interviews, police said they learned that "The Jokers" had planned to, if caught by police, padlock the doors of the warehouse and throw Molotov cocktails at the officers. This explains why, when fire and police crews arrived at the vacant warehouse fire on October 14, the doors to the fourth floor where the fire was located were locked from the inside.

The building was known as a "hangout," for a group of 10-14 teens between the ages of 14-18, said Police Chief Michael Masi.

One arrest has been made, though the person's name isn't being released because they are 17 years old. That individual faces burglary and felony charges related to setting the Mills Street fire.

Two other buildings in Little Falls - 343 Second Street and 585 John Street - were also set ablaze on October 21 and October 26, respectively.

No arrests have been made in connection with those fires.

Police said they have compiled a list of all abandoned properties in the city and are more closely monitoring such buildings. Authorities are also asking for help from the public if anything suspicious is seen.

If you have any information about these fires or have seen suspicious activity, you are asked to call Sergeant Ronald Petrie of Little Falls Police at (315) 574-5237.
