Utica Police Chief C. Allen Pylman told a morning press conference at Utica City Hall that the investigation had developed two suspects in relation to the death of Officer Lindsey. Pylman says that two members of U.P.D. are in Puerto Rico, interviewing Jose Cirino about his possible involvement in the murder of Lindsey on April 12th. Cirino is believed to be a native of Puerto Rico who frequently travels to Utica. Pylman says that they can place Cirino in the Utica area on Thursday, April 12th, the night that Officer Lindsey was gunned down during a routine traffic stop on Neilson Street in Utica.

Along with Cirino, Pylman now says that Sammy Rivera is being regarded as a suspect in the shooting of Lindsey. Rivera was the driver of the car that was pulled over by Lindsey. After the policeman was shot, Rivera fled the scene. He was apprehended by Utica Police on John Street, about five blocks north of the shooting.

A visibly frustrated Pylman told the press that his department is not getting the cooperation from segments of the local Hispanic community needed to bring those involved in the killing of the officer to justice. Pylman noted that some in the community are not being straight forward in their answers to police questions about suspects and circumstances surrounding the death of Officer Lindsey. He appealed to the public, especially the Hispanic community, to contact Utica Police with any information they might have. All calls will be kept confidential.
