Pope Benedict makes way to New York

NEW YORK (AP) - Pope Benedict is in New York City, where he is
scheduled to deliver an address to the General Assembly of the United Nations.

So far on his U.S. trip, Benedict has put America's clergy sexual abuse scandal front and center. But today, experts expect him to touch on several broad themes, such as a human rights agenda that encompasses religious freedom, the sacredness of human life and the responsibility of first-world nations to aid developing ones.

Benedict's New York visit will also include a visit to ground zero, though he is not scheduled to speak. He will also celebrate Mass at Yankee Stadium, visit a synagogue, and meet with leaders of other Christian denominations.
