Busy Day For Pope Benedict XVI Comes To An End, Prepares For Final Day in America

Andrew Donovan

NEW YORK - As Pope Benedict XVI prepares for his final day in the United States, his Saturday ends after a long list of scheduled events in front of thousands of people. From St. Patrick's Cathedral in Rockefeller Center to a Youth Rally in Yonkers, it was a day to contemplate the future of Catholicism.

Saturday was also the third anniversary of Benedict XVI's election to lead to Catholic Church. Earlier in the week, he celebrated his 81st birthday.

The day started with a mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York's Rockefeller Center. There, the Pontiff lead the very first mass by a Pope at this landmark Church. Following the mass, the Pope attended a lunch.

Upon exiting the Cathedral, the Pope led a procession down 5th Avenue in Manhattan in the "Popemobile." Thousands of people lined the streets to get a quick view of the Pontiff.

Around 5:00 PM EST, the Pope led a Youth Rally at St. Joseph's Seminary in front of 25,000 people.
