2012 Utica Mayor's Gala to benefit Children's Museum and Stevens-Swan Humane Society

By HILARY LANE

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri, along with his wife, Sue, announced Thursday that the annual Mayor's Benefit Gala will be held April 14 at the Radisson Hotel in Utica.

It was no coincidence that the Children's Museum was the spot chosen to announce the details of the ball. The museum, along with the Stevens- Swan Humane Society, will share all of the proceeds from ticket sales and donations from the event.

Sue Palmieri says that both organizations have similar missions and are great causes to support.

"It's the respect for self, respect for others, respect for animals," she said. "Care for self, care for others, care for animals."

The Stevens-Swan Humane Society will use the donated funds to improve the outdoor kennel area, building weatherproof shelters so the animals can spend time outdoors. The Children's Museum will use the money to build a planetarium for children and families to enjoy.

Local Utica vendors will be donating everything from the food, to decorations, and floral arrangements for the event.

Tickets for the Mayor's Benefit Gala are $50 and will be available at the door or through the Mayor's office.
