Congressional candidates cast their votes; look back on campaigns

(WKTV) - Congressional candidates cast their votes this morning as they get ready to wrap up their bids for the 24th Congressional District seat.

Congressman Michael Arcuri cast his vote today at Hugh R Jones Elementary School.

He is going for a second-term in office.

Some of his big campaign platforms have been economic development, energy production and tax credits.

In Cooperstown, Republican Richard Hanna hit the polls at St. Mary's Church on Elm Street.

He's run on the platform of political newcomer - a businessman who doesn't like the way the current administration has run things - basically standing up to party bosses and using his experience as a businessman to help the 24th Congressional District.

Each candidate shared with us their final thoughts about what has taken place leading up to today.

"I've been looking forward to this for a long time," Hanna said. "But regardless, I think it's an honor and privilege to be part of this process and the idea to represent this part of New York is a thrill for me."

"I think we ran a very clean issue-oriented campaign," Arcuri said. "We didn't get negative we didn't get dirty we focused on the issues and that's what the people want to hear about."
