NYS Federation of Police endorses Townsend for Oneida County Sheriff

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Republican endorsed-candidate for Oneida County Sheriff has now received the endorsement of the New York State Federation of Police, Inc.

According to a press release from Assemblyman David Townsend, he has been officially endorsed by the Federation.

"I'm very proud to have received the endorsement of the NYS Federation of Police, Inc, the support of the hardworking men and women of our law enforcement community is very gratifying," Townsend said. "I can promise them and all the people of Oneida County I'll provide the leadership as Sheriff to make our communities the safest in New York State."

Townsend is just one of several names that have come forward with interest in the seat, which will be vacated by longtime Sheriff Dan Middaugh who is retiring. Those names include Rome Public Safety Commissioner James Masucci, New York Mills Mayor and Whitesboro Police Officer Robert Maciol, and former Utica Public Safety Commissioner Phil Taurisano.
