WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKTV) - Congressman Richard Hanna (R, 24th District) will be joined by a special guest as he attends the State of the Union Address in Washington D.C. Tuesday night.

Retired Army Reservist Staff Sergeant Michael Sportello from Herkimer will join the representative to listen to President Barack Obama's speech.

Sportello was injured in Iraq during his service there in 2003-2004 with the 82nd Airborne Division. Sportello served in several areas- including Fallujah and Ramadi.

Congressman Hanna says "To serve one's country is among the most noble and selfless acts available to man, particularly during times of war. Thank you, Staff Sergeant Sportello."

Guests can’t sit with Members of Congress on the House floor for the joint-session, but they will be seated in the galleries that overlook the floor.
