HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer County Legislature is sending a distress signal.
On Tuesday, the body passed a resolution called, "May Day for Mandate Relief." They're asking the state's Mandate Relief Council to submit a package of proposals to Governor Cuomo immediately and the county administrator says there's strength in numbers.
"I think the council itself is one thing. I think you need the public, you need the business groups, you need the county groups, you need the village groups, the town groups, really, to stay on top of this and that's why today is such an important thing," said Herkimer County Administrator James Wallace.
New York's other 61 counties have been passing and will continue to pass similar resolutions throughout the month of May.
