Tenney wins Republican Primary for 101st Assembly Seat

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney has won the 101st State Assembly Republican Primary, NEWSChannel 2 projects.

Tenney leads challenger Brian Maher by a significant number of votes, nearly 1,400 with about 99% of the precincts reporting.

The 101st district covers from New Hartford in Oneida County downstate to Orange County, where Maher is from.

Orange County was the only county where Maher overtook Tenney. Tenney won in Oneida, Herkimer, Otsego, Delaware, Ulster and Sullivan Counties.

Tenney will face Democratic challenger Dan Carter in the November 6th general election. Carter is a former Herkimer County legislator.
