Third candidate announced in Utica Common Council 4th Ward race

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A highly-decorated combat veteran of three campaigns is running for the the Utica Common Council's 4th Ward. Mark Williamson, a retired Commander Master Chief of the U.S. Navy is endorsed by the Republican Party.

Williamson has a background in leadership-management. He will run against longtime city official Joan Scalise, who is running for her final term. Term limits prevent Scalise from serving more than one more consecutive term in the city's 4th ward.

Scalise is also being challenged by Utica accountant Joe Marino. Marino says that he will use his business and accounting background to make a difference to the city, especially in the area of economics and finance.
