Picente sworn in for second term at helm of Oneida County
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente was sworn in his second full term on Friday. Picente took to the podium in front of approximately one hundred family member, friends, and elected officials, and promised to serve the people of the county to the best of his ability. He also spoke about his desire to continue the work he and his staff laid the foundation for during his first term including consolidating services, continuing economic development, and building projects to stimulate growth. "If we are being poised for growth on the job front in Marcy and Griffis and Utica and Rome, then we need the housing and means to accommodate more people, especially young people. Congressman Richard Hanna acted as the host of the swearing-in ceremony telling the full house that these are tough economic times. He emphasized that it is up to elected officials like Picente to take charge and quell the anxieties and frustrations of the people. Picente closed the event by saying now is not a time for partisanship. If anything is to be accomplished in the county, the Republicans and Democrats need to work together.
