101st Assembly candidates cast votes in race for expansive re-structured district
DECISION 2012 (WKTV) - The 101st Assembly District is considered by many as a geographically challenging district since its redistricting and now runs from New Hartford and Paris in Oneida County through Herkimer and Otsego Counties all the way to Orange County. Both candidates are from the Mohawk Valley with current Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney of New Hartford being challenged by Dan Carter of Little Falls, a former Herkimer County Legislator. Tenney says she is embracing the expansive district. "I'm hoping to make this a bridge, so we can understand a little more about each from upstate to downstate and realize what we have in common instead of what divides us," Tenney said. "So really, everybody wants she same thing, everybody wants to live at home, have a good job, take care of their families." "The tax issue is a big issue and so are energy costs," said Carter. "Which, basically relate back to jobs and job creation. Being a member of the majority, if I am elected, I will work closely with Mr. Brindisi and my fellow Democrats to bring relief for all workers in New York."
