Current county election commissioners ready for Election Day

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Oneida Count Election Commissioners have been much scrutnized over the past three years, but the current commissioners say they are ready for Election Day.

Back in 2010, voting results were not talled until after 11 p.m. and County Executive Anthony Picente blamed management. The problems eventually led to a replacement of both the Republican and Democrat commissioners.

The new commissioners say the current technology will allow a minute-by-minute tally of the votes at eight remote sites.

"Our goal is for the chips to be delivered where they need to be delivered, and that the results get uploaded," said Rose Marie Grimaldi, Republican Election Commissioner. "Those chips will be continuously loaded into a laptop computer by a computer programmer."

Polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
