Crandall the only one on ballot for Herkimer County Court Judge

HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Only one person's name will appear on the ballot for Herkimer County Court Judge come November.

According to the Herkimer County Board of Elections, current District Attorney John Crandall is the only person to have a petition filed for the seat by the July 14 deadline.

At one time, three people were all interested in the position - sitting Herkimer County Court Judge Patrick Kirk, 5th Judicial District Supreme Court Justice Michael Daley, and current Herkimer County District Attorney John Crandall.

Members of the Board of Elections say no more candidates can appear on the November ballot.

Several people called the NEWSChannel 2 newsroom saying that Judge Daley is interested in the District Attorney's seat, which would be vacated when Crandall takes over the judge's seat. Some have even said Daley has already handed in a letter of resignation from his position of Supreme Court Justice.

This afternoon, Reporter Pat Bailey spoke with Judge Daley, who is on vacation for two weeks, but said he has not handed in a letter of resignation.

When asked if he will resign, or seek the position of Herkimer County District Attorney, he said he did not want to comment.
