HERKIMER, N.Y. - Michael A. Stalteri, Sr. has announced his candidacy for Herkimer County Legislator in District 2.

Stalteri is the endorsed candidate for the Herkimer County Republican, Conservative, and Independence Parties.

He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and gerontology from St. John Fisher College in Rochester New York, a Masters of Social Work degree from Syracuse University, and a Certificate of Advance Study in Educational Administration from SUNY Cortland.

A licensed Social Worker and Educator for over fifteen years, Stalteri is currently employed as a school administrator in the Rome City School District. He's held positions as a counselor and clinician at the Child Guidance Clinic of the Neighborhood Center in Utica, Herkimer BOCES, and Catholic Charities of the Mohawk Valley.

"I believe that my background and experience as a small business owner, educator and counselor gives me a unique perspective and set of skills to serve as County Legislator," Stalteri said. "We need to find ways to attract more businesses and create jobs; keep taxes low and reduce spending; and provide opportunities for young people and families so they remain in Herkimer County and choose to return to Herkimer County."

Other candidates seeking the 2nd District seat are incumbent Helen Rose and George Markwardt, a Republican.
