Stage at Rome's Franklyn Field taken down
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A popular hangout for kids in the City of Rome no longer stands. The dilapidated stage at Franklyn Field has now been demolished after the city deemed the stage "potentially hazardous." It was also dangerously close to Black River Boulevard, located at the edge of the park. The cost to repair the structure to comply with safety standards was too big and city officials say the cost to remove the stage was almost nothing. There are plans to rehabilitate the park, officials said and the city is waiting to hear about funding.
