Three states trying to lure Remington Arms out of Ilion
ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - As lawmakers at both the state and federal level crack down on gun control, the union for works at Remington Arms in Ilion say other states are working to lure the plant away. According to Frank "Rusty" Brown, the local chairman of the United Mine Workers 717, the states of Michigan, Texas and Oklahoma are all currently trying to lure Remington out of Ilion and to their state. A letter was hand delivered from the Union to lawmakers in Albany that urged them to consider the 1,300 employees in Ilion when making decisions about gun control, Brown said. Brown says the three states are offering great opportunities, including state of the art facilities and tax incentives.
