Mayor Roefaro: I will definitely not run again

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro announced Saturday that once and for all, he has decided not to run again as the city's top executive. He announced that in April, but was thinking about a change of heart after he said he was getting a lot of support for him to change his mind.

He announced that he wants to spend more time with his family.

Mayor Roefaro said, "I'd just like to thank the citizens of Utica for believing in me and for always believing in me and for this last boost of confidence that they really want me to rerun and I want to thank them for their faith in me."

Mayor Roeforo did not rule out a return to politics in the future. He said, "It's possible, maybe later on. But for right now, I am just going to take it easy and enjoy my family and my business."

The Democratic Party has backed Robert Palmieri, while the Republicans have backed Robert Cardillo. City Comptroller Mike Cerminaro, a Republican, is also planning to run.
