UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica voters have voted to exclude Members of the city's common council and president, along with part-time city and seasonal employees from receiving health care benefits through the city.

Two city propositions went before Utica voters at the polls on Tuesday.

"Proposition 2" read "Shall the City of Utica Code of Ordinance Art. III of Chapter 3-11 Health and Human Services be amended: 'Shall the President and Members of the Common Council and their dependents be excluded from receiving health care benefits through the City of Utica."

The proposition passed with 69% of voters approving the measure, 8,792 to 5,014.

"Proposition 3" read "shall the City of Utica Code of Ordinance Art. III of Chapter 3-11 Health and Human Services be amended: 'Shall all part-time employees who do not qualify as permanent part-time employees and temporary employees, exclusive of Civil Service classification and all permanent or part-time seasonal employees and their dependents be excluded from receiving health care benefits through the City of Utica.'

That proposition passed with 62% of voters approving the measure, 8,523 to 5,289.
