Authorities investigate hit and run with Amish buggy in Lowville

LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Authorities in Lewis County are investigating a hit and run accident involving an Amish buggy that happened in the Town of Lowville on Thursday night.

Sheriff's Deputies say that an unknown vehicle was traveling north on State Route 12 near the Nefsey Road intersection when it struck the buggy, causing extensive damage.

The vehicle then fled the scene prior to the arrival of Sheriff's Deputies.

The two occupants of the vehicle, a husband and wife, were not injured in the collision.

Deputies are now looking for the public's assistance in locating the vehicle believed to be involved. The vehicle is described as a newer model Ford F-250 or F-350 with front passenger side damage. The vehicle is also possibly missing its passenger's side mirror.
