Detours begin Wednesday for renovation of three bridges in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - There are 22 bridges in Oneida, Herkimer and Lewis Counties that have been deemed structurally deficient, according to the website saveourbridges.com and at least three will be getting repairs this week.

Some major detours are expected to begin this week due to the replacement of three bridges in the city of Rome.

The bridges are located on Route 26 over Route 365, Route 69 over Route 365 and Route 69 over Route 26.

The repair work comes as part of Governor Andrew Cuomo's "Drivers First initiative.

A spokesperson from the Department of Transportation says that demolition of the bridges is expected to begin on Thursday, and the detours around them will be in place through the end of the year.
