Home destroyed by early morning fire in Oppenheim

OPPENHEIM, N.Y. (WKTV) - A home has been destroyed in the Town of Oppenheim after fire broke out early Monday morning.

According to Emergency Officials in Fulton County, the structure was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews first arrived on the scene. The fire began in a rear addition of the house where the family kept snowmobiles, a lawnmower, and other items.

The Hilltop Fire Department, along with Oppenheim and Dolgeville Departments all responded to the scene at 7624 State Highway 29 in Oppenheim after the fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. on Monday and executed an exterior attack on the blaze.

Officials say the fire was electrical in nature.

No one was hurt, but the roof of the structure collapsed in the course of the fire.

The owners are currently staying with family.
