Lack of hydrants makes for challenging battle at Rome fire
By WKTV News
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV)
- An investigation is underway to determine what caused a fire in the outer district of Rome on Friday afternoon.
Crews responded to a home at 5399 Hoag Road in Rome just before 1 p.m. on Friday.
One person lives in the home, but officials said that person was able to make it out to safety.
A lack of fire hydrants in the area made things a bit challenging for firefighters, who had to call in a tanker from the New London Fire Department.
While there is no official cause determined as of this writing, fire officials say they believe it started in the back living room of the home.
