LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - A 21 year old man from Fort Plain has been killed after his car went off the road and became submerged in a pond on Route 5 in Little Falls early Friday morning.
According to New York State Police, the time of the accident has not been determined, but a passing motorist called 911 at roughly 6:45 Friday morning.
Authorities say the only person in the car was the driver, Bo M. Baker, 21, of Fort Plain, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier westbound on State Route 5. State Police say Baker lost control of the vehicle, exited the road, struck a snow embankment and overturned, coming to rest on the vehicle's roof, partially submerged in a pond adjacent to the roadway.
At the scene, State Police said that Baker died while inside the car. However, at this time, authorities are not sure how much time passed between when the accident took place and when someone called 911.
Herkimer County Coroner Vincent Enea responded to the scene and had Baker removed to Little Falls Hospital pending the scheduling of an autopsy.
Authorities have not determined as of this writing what caused the crash, but say the investigation into the accident is continuing.
