UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police got a call about a loose lion, but it turned out the caller may have been 'lyin',' or at least confused.

Police say that around 11:15 a.m., officers responded to the Parkway near Oneida Street for a report that a lion was chasing deer. Officers checked the surrounding area and could not locate any such animal.

The Utica Zoo was immediately contacted and checked all of their enclosures for any missing animals, but found that all animals were present and accounted for.

Based on the seriousness of the incident, and at the Utica Police Department's request, the Zoo re-checked all of their animals and found that they were all present.

Officers were unable to locate any animals in the area.
