Police find two dead in West Utica home

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Police have found two people dead inside a home on McVean Street in West Utica following a tip that the suspect in a North Utica shooting was inside.

Police confirm to NEWSChannel 2 that the bodies of one male and one female were found but their identities have not been confirmed.

Utica Police, with the help of Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies and the New Hartford Emergency Response Team, entered the home at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Earlier in the day information was developed that the suspect in shooting his girlfriend at the Parkedge Townhouses in north Utica may be in the house on McVean St. Officers believed that the man was hiding in a house at 815/817 McVean Street.

Officers surrounded the house and for several hours made attempts to contact the man and any residents inside with no success.

Once inside, officers found a deceased male and a deceased female. The identity of the two has not been confirmed, nor has a cause of death.
