MIDDLEFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - A structure believed to be a camp on Otsego Lake is a total loss after an evening fire on Pegg's Bay in Middlefield.

The fire broke out Wednesday night at the structure on the banks of Otsego Lake. The Cooperstown Fire Department was still on the scene Thursday morning putting out hotspots, according to Otsego County Emergency Services officials.

At least five fire departments, including Cooperstown, were called to the scene Wednesday night, and the smoke from the fire was so intense, it could be seen as far away as hilltops in Oneida County.

NEWSChannel 2 was on the scene, but was met with a dead end road that crews were restricted from going beyond, as it was private property.

Thursday morning, Emergency Services officials said that there had been no injuries reported and that the structure was not occupied at the time of the fire.

The fire was fully involved before the fire department got to the scene Wednesday night, and the structure is believed to be a total loss.
