ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A family is out of a home after an early morning fire Friday in the City of Rome.

Officials with the Rome Fire Department say the family was not home when the fire broke out shortly before 5 a.m. on Friday and was called in by a neighbor along with multiple calls that came in to 911.

When crews from the Rome Fire Department arrived on the scene they found fire coming from the front window and door along with the rear porch area of the home.

Officials say the home and its contents are a total loss and that the family's dog died in the fire.

According to fire officials, the displaced family consisted of a 29 year old woman, an 11 year old, five year old and three month old.
