Oneida County Sheriff's Office mourns loss of retired K9

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of their retired K9s.

"It is with regret and sorrow that we announce the passing of retired K9 "Batsy," the Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page Tuesday night.

According to the Sheriff's office, K9 "Batsy" spent 9 1/2 years protecting the Law Enforcement Officers and the public, spending many hours assisting his partner Deputy Tony Sege with "finding drugs, bad guys, and lost people."

K9 "Batsy" and his partner Deputy Sege proudly participated with numerous public relations demonstrations for the community, the Sheriff's Office stated and also assisted the many school districts of Oneida County in various roles.

"Batsy" passed away Tuesday, marking his "End of Watch."

"RIP K9 "Batsy" you have served your community well," the statement reads.
