DOT expects Route 8 bridge to re-open by end of week


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the last several months, the Route 8 bridge in New Hartford has been under repair, but crews are no working on re-opening the southbound lane of the bridge.

According to the State Department of Transportation, contractors are working on removing roughly 4,000 feet of barrier, which will be taken down in stages.

The DOT says the plan is to have the bridge open completely by Thursday or Friday.

Next year, come Spring time, new detour signs will go up as they start work on the northbound bridge.
