I-790 ramps to thruway to close in Utica for paving operations
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The I-790 ramps to the New York State Thruway in the City of Utica are scheduled to be closed for pavement repairs and paving operations.
According to the New York State Department of Transportation, the work is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. On several Saturdays in October, weather permitting: October 13, October 20 and if necessary, October 27.
The ramps will be closed at the following locations, but officials point out they will be closed at only one location at a time.
- I-790 eastbound ramp to South Genesee Street/Thruway and the Thruway off-ramp to South Genesee Street. All traffic will be detoured to the North Genesee street ramp, north to Riverside Drive, west on Riverside Drive, south on Genesee Street.
- I-790 eastbound ramp and the Thruway ramp to North Genesee Street. I-790 traffic will be detoured east to Leland Ave, north to Herkimer Road. Thruway off-ramp traffic to North Genesee street will be detoured to the South Genesee Street ramp to the intersection with Genesee Street.
DOT officials say that signed detours, variable message signs and flaggers will be used to let motorists know of the ramp closures and direct traffic to the appropriate detour route.
