NYSDOT announces road/ramp closures in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Utica Regional Office has issued a travel adivsory, Sunday.
Starting Monday evening July 7, 2014, Route 5A/5S Oriskany Street eastbound between Schuyler Street and Cornelia Street, Route 5S/5A Oriskany Street westbound between Cornelia Street and Schuyler Street and Route 12 southbound ramps to 5S Downtown Utica and State Street will be closed to traffic between the hours of 6:00 PM through 7:00 AM due to the removal of steel beams.
Motorists traveling east on Route 5A who want to access Route 5S east Oriskany Street will be directed to use the Route 5 east ramp back onto Route 5S east.
Motorists traveling west on Route 5S who want to access Route 5A will be directed to use the Route 12 north ramp to Glass Factory Road interchange, then back down onto Route 12 south to Route 5A west Whitesboro. Note: this detour will not go into effect until 9:00PM 
Motorists traveling south on Route 12 who want to access Route 5S east will be directed to get off  on I 790 / Route 5 east, right on to Genesee Street south, onto Broad Street east, to Route 5S east.
Signed detours will be utilized to advise motorists of the ramp closures and direct traffic to the appropriate detour routes.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.  In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual's driver's license.
