Permanent lane reduction on Route 5 in Town of Manheim

By WKTV News

MANHEIM, N.Y. - New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) officials have announced that State Route 5 eastbound and westbound between Route 167 and Biddleman Road/River Road in the town of Manheim will be permanently reduced from four lanes to two lanes due to settlement of the embankment.

Repairs to the embankment were previously completed but a recent inspection revealed evidence of additional settlement in the embankment, which led to the decision to restrict traffic to two lanes. The lane restriction will be in place until further notice.

The local municipalities, along with emergency personnel and school officials, have been notified of the lane reduction on the highway.
