Idelson named Baseball Hall of Fame president

COOPERSTOWN (AP) - Jeff Idelson is the new president of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.

Idelson, 43, succeeds Dale Petroskey, who resigned last month after nearly nine years.

Idelson, who had been acting president for three weeks, was picked by the Hall of Fame's 17-member board of directors. A native of West Newton, Mass., he becomes the Hall's sixth president. The appointment was announced Wednesday.

Petroskey resigned after being cited by the board for "failing to exercise proper fiduciary responsibility" and other business judgments that were not in the best interest of the Hall of Fame.
