AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- After an unexpected run to a second straight Section III title, the Proctor baseball team could not make it two straight in states, falling to top-ranked and undefeated La Salle 7-0 in the quarterfinals Monday night at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam.

Proctor, which won its first-ever state championship last season, trailed 2-0 after two innings, 4-0 after four and 7-0 after five, and La Salle starting pitcher Kyle Charron made sure it stood with a complete game shutout. Proctor starter Joe Perrotta lasted just 3.1 innings, allowing four runs (all earned) on four hits, two walks, and two hit batters, striking out one. Sean Redmond threw the rest of the game in relief.

La Salle, now 27-0, advances to the state final four on Saturday. Proctor ends the season 14-13.
