The MVCC hockey team had a blazing start to the season, going 8-1. But after a 6-3 loss on Sunday to Monroe, the Hawks have now dropped 10 of their last 11, falling to 9-11 overall.

MV goalie and Whitesboro grad Norm Seakan was a rock in the net for most of the game, but his fortune turned in the final period. After 54 Monroe shots, Seakan had allowed just one goal, and the Hawks led 2-1 in the third. But in the span of just over a minute, all of that changed, as the Tribunes connected on back to back shots to take a 3-2 lead. The Hawks did come back to tie the game at 3 on a power play goal by New Hartford grad Dan Kunze with just over five minutes left; but Monroe put it away with two more goals and a late empty-netter. The Tribunes finished with a shot total advantage of 74-28.

MVCC is back on the home ice at the Aud this Tuesday night against SUNY Canton.
