Adrean Holds Down Whitestown

By Sports WKTV

MARCY, N.Y. -- In a matchup of two of the hottest teams in Oneida County legion baseball, visiting Adrean pulled away and held off Whitestown 5-4 at SUNYIT on Monday.

Whitestown, which had won five straight league games coming in, jumped ahead 1-0 in the first inning on a run-scoring passed ball, but Adrean, which had won seven of its last eight in league play, came right back with three runs in the second on two RBI singles.

Adrean starting pitcher Steve Campbell danced in and out of trouble from there, stranding seven Whitestown runners over the next three innings as his offense scratched out two more runs to pad its lead. Whitestown had first and second with one out in the second, first and second with one out in the third, and bases loaded with one out in the fourth, but could not get any of the runners home.

With the victory, Adrean improves to 8-4 in Oneida County play; Whitestown drops to 5-4.
