SAUQUOIT VALLEY, N.Y. -- Roberts did what it needed to do on Monday. Now, it has to wait.
Holding onto the fourth and final playoff berth in the Oneida County Blue Division in the final week of the regular season, Roberts won its final league game at Clonan 5-2, and now needs Helmuth-Ingalls to lose one of its last four league games to clinch the berth.
Tyler Mann was the man on both the mound and at the plate. On the mound, he threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and a walk and struck out seven. At the plate, he hit a bases loaded two-run single in the fourth inning that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead that he would not give up. He finishes the regular season with a 6-1 record.
Cody Crego got the offense started for Roberts with a solo home run in the second inning, then Clonan came back in the third with an RBI single by Brandon O'Conner and an RBI double by Brian Gaskell.
Roberts ends its league schedule 10-8; Clonan is still winless at 0-12.
