Colgate Running Back Named Preseason All-American

Sports WKTV

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The offseason definitely did not go as planned for star Colgate running back Jordan Scott, with a dorm room burglary incident in January leading to a misdemeanor plea and 21 days in jail this month. But the preseason got off to a great start on Monday, as the senior was named by The Sporting News as a Football Championship Subdivision Preseason All-American.

As a junior last year, Scott led the FCS (formerly called Division I-AA) in rushing with 170.5 yards per game, leading Colgate to a 7-4 record. With 4,473 career rush yards, Scott is just 748 away from breaking the school record and 362 away from setting a new Patriot League mark. He can also become the first Colgate player ever to rush for 1,000 yards in four straight seasons, though he'll have to sit out the Raiders' season opener at Stony Brook due to a university suspension for the dorm incident.
