NEWPORT, R.I. -- A 7-28 overall record and 2-19 Big East record over the last three seasons have once again created low expectations for the Syracuse football team, as the Orange were picked to finish last in the conference Tuesday at Big East Media Day in Rhode Island.

Those three seasons have all been helmed by Greg Robinson, and while numerous injuries and ineligibilities have been the main problems, he is likely coaching to keep his job this season.  Always the optimist, though, Robinson is encouraged by the returns of previously-injured top running backs Delone Carter and Curtis Brinkley, and is excited to start training camp next Monday.
"We have been building a culture for three and a half years and I see the vision I had for our program coming to fruition," Robinson said. "I really like the young people in our program. There is a quality that runs through this football team and it is the love of the game of football. The expectation for this team is to blossom and have all of our hard work, struggles and pain that we have gone through be rewarded. This team has leadership from top to bottom, from the young guys to the fifth-year seniors. I look forward to the leaders emerging early in camp."
