District V & NYCBL Tournament Game 2s Moved To Sunday

Sports WKTV

ROME, N.Y. -- After wearing each other out in a 10-inning slugfest in Game 1 of the District V American Legion Tournament Finals on Friday night, New Hartford and Smith will get an extra day of rest before Game 2 due to rain at DeLutis Field. Game 2 has been rescheduled for Sunday at 1:00, and Game 3, if necessary, will follow at 4:00.

New Hartford won the first game of the best-of-three series 9-8 and stands poised to earn a berth to the state tournament with a sweep. Smith, which hadn't lost to a fellow Oneida County team all season and had won each of its three meetings with New Hartford before Friday's setback, needs to win the next two games to advance.

LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. -- The Little Falls Miners were also supposed to play a Game 2 on Saturday night against Amsterdam, but wet field conditions at Veterans Memorial Park also postponed it until Sunday at 3:00.

The Miners trail the New York Collegiate Baseball League first round best-of-three series 1-0, and this will be their only home game in the series. In an effort to boost attendance and provide a stronger home-field advantage, free tickets are available at www.littlefallsminers.com.
