LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. -- The Little Falls Miners' playoff run ended without a victory on Sunday, as Amsterdam swept their New York Collegiate Baseball League best-of-three first round round series with a 5-3 win at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Mohawks got things started right away with a first-inning home run by Mark Onorati (Manhattan) and an RBI single by Cody Reine (Louisiana State) for a 2-0 lead.  Little Falls responded immediately, with designated hitter Jeff Lieneck (Wheaton College) launching a solo shot to left-center field in the bottom half to cut the score in half.
In the second, the longball continued with Ricky Pacione (Marist College) hitting a solo shot for a 3-1 lead.  In the fifth, Pacione went deep again for another solo home run and a 4-1 lead.
The Miners rallied in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run by Nick Campbell (Bryan University) and an RBI single by Dave Wendt (Dowling College) to get within 4-3, but that's as close as they'd get.  Amsterdam added an RBI single in the eigth by Bryce Nugent (Marist College) for insurance.
