POLAND, NY (WKTV) - Prior to this season, the Remsen girls soccer team's best start ever was 5-0.  On Monday, the Lady Rams doubled that mark, improving to 10-0 overall with a 1-0 overtime win at Poland.

After two scoreless regulation halves and the first 10-minute overtime, Remsen 8th-grader Erin O'Conner put the Lady Rams ahead with 6:04 left in the second overtime.  That left Poland with plenty of time to counter since overtime in girls soccer is not sudden death, but the Lady Tornados were unable to answer.

Remsen had the game's best two chances to score in regulation, with both coming in the first half.  Early on, the Lady Rams got a penalty kick due to a Poland handball in the box but Tarah Brand's shot sailed over the crossbar.  Late in the half, Remsen did get a ball into the back of the Lady Tornados' net on a shot by Mallory Lennon, but Lennon was called offsides, negating the goal.

In the goals, Remsen's Alaina Rieben made 12 saves and Poland's Jordyn Gauthier had 19.

Along with the 10-0 overall record, Remsen is now 5-0 in Center State Conference Division IV; Poland is 2-3-1 league and 3-3-1 overall.
