National event comes to Utica as curling championships officially openWHITESTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - The opening ceremony for the U.S. Curling Championships were held Sunday afternoon at the Utica Curling Club on Clark Mills Road. All this week, the national championships are being held right here in the Central New York. The best of the best from clubs all across the country are here and organizers say they hope the locals will come out and check out the competition and the club itself. Local politicians were in attendance for the ceremony including Congressman Michael Arcuri (D), Utica Mayor David Roefaro (D) and Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente (R) among others. Organizers hope that local people will attend the week-long event. Tickets are $5 per day during the week and $10 for the semi-finals and finals next weekend.
