Former MLB Player hosts baseball clinic for little league players

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The heat didn't scare off a group of little league players from getting tips from a number one draft pick in Major League Baseball.

Bernie Carbo is best known for his 1975 pinch hit home runs in the World Series for the Red Sox. However, on Wednesday he was known as coach for girls and boys who love the game of baseball.

Carbo ran clinics on Wednesday at the Mohawk Little League Field and Harmon Field in Herkimer.

"I love what I do, teaching the game," Carbo said. "I even tell you, I love the Yankees. I love the Red Sox. I love the Detroit Tigers. My wife is a Cubs fan. I love the game of baseball. It's the only game you can come and watch and you can relax, you'll miss a few pitches here and there and the next thing you know, you're back watching the game. It is a game where you can converse with your child, teach them the things of life and show them the game."

The clinics continue Thursday from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Mohawk Little League Field.
