It may still be early in the season, but the New Hartford and VVS softball teams appear headed in opposite directions after the Spartans' 8-2 win on Thursday.

With a 4-2 lead going into the bottom of the sixth, New Hartford scored four runs on just two hits to pull away, as the Red Devils committed three errors in the inning.

The victory improves New Hartford to just 4-3 overall but 3-0 in Tri-Valley League play; VVS falls to 3-6 (0-3).
