The top-seeded Herkimer County Community College men's lacrosse team started the NJCAA Region III playoffs with relative ease on Tuesday night, pulling away to beat visiting No. 8 seed Finger Lakes 19-5.
Holding just a 5-3 lead after the 1st quarter, the Generals opened the 2nd with a 4-0 run and led 9-4 at halftime, then pulled away in the second half for the win.  The score was just one goal off from the teams' regular season meeting, which Herkimer won 19-6.

J.P. Finn had a game-high six points on three goals and three assists, Dave Brock scored two goals and had three assists, Doug Hoch added three goals and an assists, and Justin Hayes chipped in two and two.
The victory sends the Generals, now 14-1, to the regional final four, which they host this weekend.  Their first opponent will be No. 4 seed Monroe, which beat No. 5 Broome in the quarterfinals 16-2, Saturday at 2:30.  Herkimer won its regular season matchup with Monroe 13-10.
